GNR-000 GN Sefer

GN Sefer
Originally uploaded by Busterbeam

Just starting with the box scans again, just like Rasiel. I bought the Dengeki Hobby yesterday and assembled the GN Sefer later that night. Way more moving parts than Rasiel. Nice design. Better value than Rasiel in my opinion. Pic of the Rasiel w/ Sefer will come shortly. I'll be focusing on this for the next couple posts.

Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you out there who celebrate it. Hope you all got what you wanted on this special day.

GN-XXX Gundam Rasiel + GN Sefer - Poster

GN-XXX Gundam Rasiel - Box art

Just a couple of scans of the box art. I really liked the design. Simple. I actually like the model quite a bit. I'm definitely going to mod it. Bought some accesories for it today actually.

GN-XXX Gundam Rasiel

So I picked up this month's Dengeki Hobby, with the 1/144 FG Rasiel attached. If you didn't know, FG in this case does NOT stand for First Grade. It stands for FUROKU, which means 'supplemental' or something of the like. It has the meaning of a grade that is used for attachments to the magazine and boy does it look like one. One panel and practically no moving parts. In order to get this model working like a regular HG it will need a LOT of modifications which they illustrate at length in this magazine.

Although I have a subscription to Hobby Japan I've bought my fair share of Dengeki Hobby's and I really like it as a magazine. I prefer the posters in Dengeki Hobby as opposed to the FIX style posters that are in Hobby Japan. And the modelling spreads are done a bit better too. Hobby Japan edge's Dengeki Hobby out on content though. There's just more stuff in it.

Anyways here are some pics of my Rasiel. This was seriously just a cut and paste job. I didn't even take the time to de-nub properly. Shockingly fast build. It was nice. I could just clean up the lines a bit and paint it as is... but I'm thinking of making this a more involved project just for the sake of learning some new techniques. Rasiel is going on the back burner but I'm glad I have it. Eventually I hope to do it justice and make a simple one panel Furoku Grade model into something much more.

Miyuki Uehara's 1/100 Astraea

I did some research into who this women is and couldn't find much. Just some of her previous work. And it's really good. Take a look.

She's a professional modeller and works for Hobby Japan. As it turns out I've actually seen a lot of her work before. This months Hobby Japan cover is her MG Impulse. Issue 2's cover was her Unicorn.

After looking at her stuff I realized that I like her style a lot. She doesn't go for flash or glitz. Upgrades and modifications are minimal and alterations to the paint scheme are extremely slight. She goes for clean lines and simplicity. Trying the make the model easily recognizable.

I like her style but I'd prefer a more creative approach. haha that's just me though. I want to see colour schemes I've never seen before!

I got to thinking about what it would take to influence a girl so much that she'd want to take this up as a job. It reminded me of the time a couple of weeks ago when I saw a women driving the subway train for the first time in my life. She had a uniform just like everyone else but it was pink. She was young and pretty. She didn't look like a tomboy to me but I suppose to drive trains you kinda have to be to a certain extent right?

I wanted to tell her how proud of her I was. And that I thought that she was setting a great example for women. I didn't. She looked busy and I wasn't sure I could say it the way I wanted to.

I'm proud of these women that step outside of their conventional gender roles. Penetrating a field dominated by men can't be easy. They must have to deal with so much bull **** sometimes.

Oh well. I'll salute them this way. By spreading one Japanese woman's work to an English speaking audience. Here's your not-so-silent tribute.

Perhaps this is something that I shouldn't even be surprised at... but we can't say that we live in a world where sex and race don't matter at all. I mean just look at what's been happening in American politics this year.

Impulse update: The Core-fighter is now 100% completed. It's SO advanced compared to the RX-78 one. And... I recieved something in the mail from Bandai Japan today. It made me very happy.

1/100 GNY-001 Gundam Astraea

As I mentioned before, after I was finished at the Expo I ended up going to two new shops. At the last shop I saw a couple of new models. This is one of them. 1/100 Astraea. Looks like it comes with the GN sword, bazooka, rifle, plus shield. It reminded me of why I bought the MG Mark 2 so many years ago. It wasn't anything flashy. Bazooka, rifle, shield, beam sabres. Very well rounded and at a good price too. They had a completed version displayed as well. I was very tempted to buy this... but am focused on my G04 right now and am having trouble seeing anything else right now. But there's no rush to get this after all. I'll probably be able to buy it cheaper in a little while anyways. Thinking of potential paint schemes for it. Maybe... silver? I'm thinking of something a bit 'showy' and 'alien' for this one.

I know.

Going against my regular style but I think the design warrants it.

Plutone Core Fighter

Kinda makes you wonder if we'll see this come out later on in the series. Stats say it's unarmed, so probably just used for escape. The yellow antennas are called "Cervical Antennas". I'll let you figure that one out yourself. More at my flickr.

Gundam 00P - Character art

Yeah I know I said I was going to go in a different direction but then I realized that I said I'd post pics of the characters but haven't done that yet. Well here it is. Characters names can be seen here. Not sure about the translation of those names though but it's from a reliable source. Also... apparently there's a core fighter in the Plutone! I always liked the core fighter idea. I think Plutone is the only 00 mech to have it. Let's hope we see it in the animation!

Plutone - Extras + White Mark II

Man, I'm getting really frustrated going without my camera. I feel like I shouldn't be working on my models unless I can take pictures of it. Bleh. OK well here are the last of the Plutone photos. Think I'm going to go in a different direction tomorrow. Also... been doing a lot of research online about modelling and I've come across some really amazing things. Shocking things that make me realize just how far I have to go. Part of me wonders if I'll ever get there. If I have the drive because it takes a lot of time and determination to get to that level. But for now I'm just happy with improving. Step by step.

Anyways, here's a pic of something I found surfing, on a Japanese site. I'm always been a fan of monochrome schemes. The white looks so clean. Think I might try it out myself someday.

Plutone - Exia comparison + Red Astraea

You can see a comparison of this model and the Exia at the top and you can also see the Astraea parts 1/144 Exia at the bottom painted in red. Those protruding nozzles are kind of interesting. Presumably to release the GN Particles? I think I might like to see some alternate colour schemes for this suit. So what do you think? Do you like it? Kind of like a slim downed Virtue huh.

Plutone - Coloured line art

I wonder when/if this model is going to come out? To be honest... I like the Sadalsuud a lot more and the Astraea even more than that. Pic of that one tomorrow.

Plutone - more details and some updates

My camera's fixed but I can't use it yet for 'legal' reasons. Silly but it'd take way to long to explain. They told me 3 weeks but they got it done in days. Kind of impressive actually. Bought some more paints today. Copper, light grey and clear. Don't know what to do exactly with the clear but I figured I'll give it a shot. Same thing with the copper... I bought it because it looked nice. I do have a plan for the grey though. Beam rifle's paint has dried but I've noticed some issues so I'm going to touch it up a bit.

Gundam 00P - GNY-004 Gundam Plutone

For the next couple days I will be posting pics from the little known Gundam 00P side story, a magazine serialization which is currently at File No.4. These pics will be of a relatively large size so you can see the details. It's all about the details. Also the pictures will largely be of a 1/144 scratch build GNY-004 Gundam Plutone but there will also be some schematics/line art, character art and 3d modelling art. Let's start with the suit itself.

Some shield huh?
