HG 1/144 GN-0000 - 00 Gundam

Season 2 of Gundam 00 will be coming out soon and to whet everyone's appetites for that they've released this bad boy. GN-0000 - 00Gundam. Is that enough 0's for you? I have to admit from looking atthis thing... I was really impressed. I'm sure this one is going tosell well. It's a very high quality HG imo. I was actually thinking of buying it right there just because it looked that good and the price was cheap but I'm holding off. Gotta show some restraint because it's not where my heart is at. It'd be nice to have but time right? I have more money than time it seems. What an odd place to be. That said I'm looking forward to seeing what the modellers out there are going to do with this thing.

Time / Char's RX-78-2 GFF / Red Warrior

Well I just updated my G04 WIP (ultra minor one) and I'm starting to think that slow updates are the way to go. I wanted to keep my MG Impulse as a kind of a surprise and then reveal it all at once but the amount of pictures I've taken of that WIP is insane. It's going to take a while just to organize all of that stuff WHEN I completely finish it and AFTER I take the final pictures. Bleh. These things can really get away from you. Maybe it's just that I lack focus. On this. It is just a hobby after all. Slowly. There's just too much going on right now to focus totally on anything these days. And making Gunpura is kinda low down on the list. It does keep me out of trouble though. For some reason games seem to be creeping in a lot these days. I'm playing Homeworld AGAIN (this is the third time). and Mass Effect for the THIRD time as well. Why am I regressing to things that I've done multiple times already? hehe it still makes me happy though. And still almost as addicting as it was the first time I did it. Guess I have another 'addiction' to go along with the plamo one. And both are fighting for my attention.
In closing I leave you with a couple of pics taken by Danny Choo at an event he attended recently. This is the 2nd form of the upcoming Char's RX-78-2 Gundam FIX Figuration (GFF or just FIX to me), codenamed "Red Warrior". I LOVE this suit. Clearly designed for space combat (placement of the shoulder thrusters. Probably pretty maneuverable), massive bazooka. Love the extended knee armour, and the almost vertical V-Fin. The shield is a bit weird though. I doubt we're going to see any kit version of this suit so the FIX might be the only way to enjoy it. This may be the first FIX I buy!

Cleaning house - PG RX-78-2

So I recently got a new computer and I've been spending some time organizing my files from the old computer and combining them with the ones from the new one. The biggest hurdle has been the pictures. I've got them divided into so many subsets that it's unbelievable. After organizing the lions share of them I realized that I have a... disgusting amount of Gundam related stuff. I really have no excuse for lack of posting besides time, because I definitely have the material. So lets start with this one.

I apologize for not knowing who makes this stuff. It looks like a PG RX-78.2 just based on the amount of detail and all the hatches. Clearly some photoshopping was done to get this effect. I don't know what I can say about it. I think the art speaks for itself. Clearly someone put A LOT of time and effort into making the model AND in making this picture. As I've been playing around with photoshop a lot myself these days I can kind of see how they did it and I'm sure it must have taken a lot of time and planning. Definitely worth sharing. I like the silver hands. I'm kicking around the idea of doing the MGIJ like that once I get it.
My Impulse is practically done. Just decaling left to do now. And the peripherals are about 90% completed. The main unit is finished. Funny thing about decaling is that I'm not sure when to stop really. When I run out of decals I guess. But I have another pack of decals that I bought separately too... Maybe I should use a couple of those? Also I noticed that I can't use a lot of the stock decals because I changed the colours so much that they won't show up well. Oh well, never been a big decal guy anyways. Red Frame has none at all. I'll work on it a bit tonight and see where the mood takes me.

GN-001 Gundam Exia EXF (Trans-Am mode)

OK, let's try that E-Mail blogging thing with a pic this time.

1/100 Exia Trans-Am Mode came out recently. It was a lot pricier than I thought it would be. 4200 yen? You can get some pretty high end MG's for that price. I understand that it's got a pseudo metallic coating and all but really... It's nothing more than a limited edition re-paint of the original 1/100 bu it's not even limited edition. I mean... Covering up the nip marks are going to be a pain in the butt for this one. And there's no point in trying to repaint it. If you were going to do that you might as well go for the original 1/100, that's like half the cost. Reminds me of the Pearl coated PG Wing Gundam. Waste of money imo. Looks cool but no. Not for me. Better off getting the original 1/100 and doing the paint job yourself. If there's someone out there that can do something exceptional with this that can't be done with the standard 1/100 I'd love to see it.

Just testing out this E-Mail to blog thing. Might be easier for me to
post if I can do it like this. I've been working on my MG Impulse a
lot these days. Hours a day. Fine tuning things... working from the
ground up. Literally starting at the feet and working up. Looking at
all the little details. There's still a lot of problems that I have
with my technique. It's not clean enough. It looks good but I want
to get my panel lines looking nicer. I have to study a bit more.
I've been using the same lining technique that I used for the Red
Frame and the White Demon. It's adequate but... not quite as refined
as I'd like it to be. Makes things look kinda... muted and dirty
sometimes because I do a lot of scraping with the knife to clean up
excess lines. I'm getting there. I want to finish this kit before IJ
comes out. I mean it has been since May after all. There are a lot
of things going on in my life right now and I feel kinda guilty
spending too much time doing this stuff... There are other things I
should be doing. Haha story of my life. There's always something
else I should be doing. And on that note... I'm going to stop here.

More Stuff

MG Infinite Justice

VF-25 Messiah from Macross Frontier

Gundam 00 Season 2 Line art

Thanks to Tivor from the Gundam board at Gamefaq's for providing the links. Click for more.
Lots of good stuff coming up! Finally! I've been waiting! Of course Bandai is milking their Zaku Ver. 2 frame for all its worth by coming out with 2 MORE versions. (Shin Matsunaga and Johnny Riden versions). Wow. How many does that make all together? Regular, Char's, Minelayer, Zaku Cannon... I don't want to think about it. I'm glad that at least they're going in a different direction with Infinite Justice. I'm really stoked about that if you couldn't tell. I've got A LOT of projects to work on now, particularly since I've come back from Canada and brought some old friends back with me.
Right now, I'm working on MG Impulse, MG G04, 15th Anniversary VF-1A Super Valkyrie and the first Gundam I ever bought, no grade S-Gundam. And yes... I'm working on them all... at the same time.
Project that are low priority are HGUC GM Powered, HG's Aegis, Justice, Savior and Infinite Justice and 1/100 Blue Frame 2nd L (Repaint)
Even lower priority, HG Hi-Zaku and SD Aegis and Justice.
and finally... when I'm like 40... I'll do my PG's over.
So yeah... I'm going to be busy... for the rest of my life.
Sorry for the lack of posts for the whole month of August. As I mentioned before I was on vacation and Gundam's weren't much of a priority. Games took that slot. Metal Gear Solid 4, Guitar Hero 3 and Mass Effect. But now that I'm back in Japan with a lot of projects and a lot of cool models coming out... You can expect this place to liven up a bit more.
