Enamels have a lot drawbacks for me in that they're a bitch to clean and sometimes the combos of painting acrylics over enamels and and enamels over acrylics doesn't always come out looking how I want. I've never personally had a problem with enamels causing damage to the plastic, but I usually find myself putting multiple layers of primer and acrylic between the enamel and the plastic.
Then...there's always a possibility the piece itself was just defective...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-82328743918986335432009-11-03T16:00:47.501-05:002009-11-03T16:00:47.501-05:00Enamel thinner does indeed weaken plastic. However you primed the piece, so it should technically be protected unless the thinner ate through the primer.

The other possibility I can think of which has happened to me before is that heavily thinned paint sometimes leaks into the interior of a part, where you most likely didn't prime because you weren't going to paint the inside. This causes it to eat at the plastic from the interior.Derringerhttp://www.gamerabaenre.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-49098251744799692872009-11-03T10:23:11.477-05:002009-11-03T10:23:11.477-05:00so now ur gonna haf to putty it and den re-sand an...so now ur gonna haf to putty it and den re-sand and den prime and paint again???Asian1skillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06638381943400267892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-62375087646821006332009-11-02T19:42:50.907-05:002009-11-02T19:42:50.907-05:00flat enamel but thinned out a lot. i think its the...flat enamel but thinned out a lot. i think its the enamel thats doing the damage. it seems to be weakening the plastic. cant seem to find a way around it thoBusterbeamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09186008050580512545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-56709949366427795662009-11-02T13:44:49.305-05:002009-11-02T13:44:49.305-05:00What is the paint type of your blackWhat is the paint type of your blackDerringerhttp://www.hobbyfanatics.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-91557018859291730062009-11-02T07:04:28.164-05:002009-11-02T07:04:28.164-05:00bazooka muzzlebazooka muzzleBusterbeamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09186008050580512545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-75598746721412548882009-11-02T05:35:10.767-05:002009-11-02T05:35:10.767-05:00aaah too bad taht happend, wich part of youre mode...aaah too bad taht happend, wich part of youre models is it ?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10112816187018966493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-86316281288035978212009-11-02T02:21:03.285-05:002009-11-02T02:21:03.285-05:00yeah. it weakens the plastic... not sure if it'...yeah. it weakens the plastic... not sure if it's enamel tho... :SAstrayP03http://mrlonelyheart.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-71200840443272569122009-11-02T02:05:29.480-05:002009-11-02T02:05:29.480-05:00i wonderi wonderBusterbeamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09186008050580512545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6320371197539243411.post-51459669528833115032009-11-02T00:13:32.481-05:002009-11-02T00:13:32.481-05:00Could it be the enamel?
